  • The 68th National Film Awards presented by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on September 30, 2022.
  • The event was organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, and the event is managed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The awards ceremony was originally slated to be held on May 3, 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Legendary actress Asha Parekh received the prestigious DadaSaheb Phalke award for her exemplary lifetime contri-bution to Indian Cinema in 68th National Film Awards ceremony. This is the highest recognition in the field of Indian cinema. The award comprises a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) medallion, a shawl, and a cash prize of 10 lakh.

About Asha Parekh

  • Asha Parekh is a retired Indian actress, film director, and producer who appeared in many commercially successful films throughout her career.
  • She was the highest paid actress of her time and was one of the most successful actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1992, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contribution to the field of cinema.
  • She made her acting debut as an adult in Dil Deke Dekho in 1959, opposite Shammi Kapoor. She had initially started her career as a child artist.

  • It was presented for the first time in 1969. The first recipient of the award was actress Devika Rani
